Returning to the community from jail or prison is a difficult transition for most offenders as well as for their families & communities. Upon reentering society, former offenders are likely to struggle with substance abuse, lack of adequate education and job skills, limited housing options, and mental health issues. Competition for entry-level and low risk jobs increase these difficulties.
Aspire To Grow Inc. is a non-profit resource center dedicated to reducing crime and recidivism by providing a support system based on biblical principles and faith, we believe this allows ex-offenders and other unemployed candidates to successfully transition into family and community life.
Our one-stop resource center offers a comprehensive career development program, that includes job placement through our temporary employment agency, AspireWorks Inc., as well as supporting serivces specific to the ex-offender and difficult to employ individuals, who is not only looking for fulfilling employment, but housing, counseling, education/training and the necessary network services to support their successful re-integration into the workforce and community.

MY STORY
Life Coach to the Core
Shantory L. Gaskins, C.P.L.C
Traditionally, most high school juniors are busy planning for college or making some type of preparation for trade school or the work force. For me, things were a little different. Throughout my adolescent years “the hustle” was all I saw. By the time I reached age 17, I was introduced to the life of crime. Before I entered my senior year in high school, I had already received my first criminal charge. After graduating from high school and not having any success at finding a job, thoughts of failure, defeat, and hopelessness played over and over in my head. I felt that I had ruined my chance to do “the right thing”, go to college, and get a good job. The life as a career criminal began and remained for 11 years.
After years of ups and downs and ins and outs, I came to a point where I felt so low and just tired. I began to look back over my life and saw no growth, no accomplishments. At that point, while raising three children, I began to cry out to God for direction. I was in desperate need of help. God began to speak to me through his word “As a ManThink in his heart,So is He.” I started to realize that It was not so much of my criminal background or situation that was causing my stagnation, It was me! I was being defeated because of my very own negative thinking and destructive mind sets. God continued speaking to me “For I know the plans I have for you, plans for success and a expected end.” As I began to meditate and believe the word of God, those negative mind sets and thoughts of defeat began to be replaced by positive thoughts, and a much stronger faith. After realizing this truth, my life began to change, employment opportunities were made available, I finally realized my purpose.
I just could not keep it to myself. I now have a passion to reach out to others
who continue to struggle in this area.
My personal message to you is I LOVE you, I CARE about you....your life is not over.....It’s never too late to began again!
